All journalists want to know the answers to six basic questions – which form the basis of every media interaction:
- Where, and
Of course, these very simple questions (which are great at networking events, and for job interviews) which can also spin off into multiple who, what, why, when, where and how questions.
Let’s look at a quick example …
Who is in your media release (who is being quoted – you, another expert, your customer)?
Who are you (what is your credibility/authority)?
Who are you giving advice to (tired mums, stressed business owners, struggling homeowners)?
What is the purpose of this release?
What advice are you giving?
What is going on? What is happening?
This then continues for why, when, where and how.
Simply jot down – in bullet point – the answers to these, before heading into your next media interview and leave a Media Darling.™
